Announcing the Soldotnalong!

For the next Colorful Eclectic knitalong, we will be knitting the Soldotna Crop by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks (link to pattern). This DK-weight, short sleeve cropped sweater features a colorwork yoke and plenty of opportunities for customization. Pick your colors, add or subtract length, or change up the sleeves! We love this pattern to wear over flowy tanks or sundresses in the fall and spring. This time around, we are thrilled to have friends joining us! Aurora Sisneros of Aurora Talks Knit will be providing technical knitting advice videos. And Rachel of Six and Seven Fiber is offering kits and advice, as well. We are so happy to have them! At Colorful Eclectic, our KALs are all about process...

Summertime Trades Knit-a-long!

Update: Sorry you missed the SummerTime Trades KAL? Don't be - we've archived all the prompts and tips here:    For the next Colorful Eclectic knitalong, we will be knitting Time Trades by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks (link to pattern). Special thanks to Carly for suggesting this pattern! We like this pattern for a summer KAL because it’s light and lacy but warm enough to keep you from shivering in a heavily air-conditioned office or restaurant. Time Trades is a large, parallelogram-shaped shawl that is knit on the bias. The multicolor effect is created by using a 5 mini-skein gradient and 2 coordinating full skeins of sock yarn. We recommend Colorful Eclectic Pathfinder (75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon). Liz has come up...

16 Weeks of Weekender Milestone 13: First Sleeve

Not sure what this is? Check out the 16 Weeks of Weekender master post here! Welcome to Sleeve Island!  This week, we pick up armhole stitches, decrease for a while, then knit a ribbed cuff with another tidy tubular bind-off. Some enterprising knitters knit sleeves 2 at a time on a magic loop. I prefer to knit them one at a time. I leave stitch markers in each decrease round on the first sleeve, then transfer them to the second sleeve as I knit each decrease round. This is an easy way to make sure I have the same number of decrease rounds on each sleeve! Do you have any sleeve knitting hacks?  If you're participating in the knitalong, post a...
